Any woman 18 years or older who can prove lineal, bloodline descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American independence is eligible to join the DAR. She must provide documentation for each statement of birth, marriage, and death, as well as documentation of the American Revolutionary War service and residence of her Patriot ancestor (unless already documented in the DAR's GRS system.) If you'd like more information about joining our chapter you can contact us by clicking the red "Get Started!" button below.
The Linares Chapter, NSDAR, registrar and lineage volunteers will provide guidance and assistance with the application process and research; it is a team effort! You are not expected to do all the research on your own.
1.) Just fill out our contact form and tell us about yourself. If you already have identified an American Revolutionary War Patriot, give us the Patriot's name, state of service, and how you discovered your Patriot. (For example, did you have a relative in the DAR, Sons of the American Revolution (SAR), did you identify them via an online tree, or through the DAR GRS.)
2.) If you don't have an identified Patriot, but have ancestors that date back to the American Revolutionary War period, we can help you see if there is a hidden Patriot in your ancestry. Just contact our registrar and she will be back in touch with you to to guide you through the application process. You can also start to gather vital records for the first three generations of your family (you, your parents, and grandparents).
3.) Attend one of our chapter meetings to get to know more about our chapter and to see if we are the right fit for you! We meet the first Thursday of the month January through June and October through December, starting at 10:30 a.m. Our Membership Committee can give you more information. You can also attend one of our Lineage Workshops. This is open to the public, and we usually meet the Friday before our chapter meeting. Contact us for more details.
